Haiti - World Cup : Our Grenadières bow [0-1] against the «Lionesses» of England

This Saturday, July 22, as part of the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup, on the lawn of the "Brisbane Stadium" in Australia, our Grenadières, for their first World Cup, faced in the opening pool match, the "Lionesses" of England (European champions)
A match dominated by England in front of which Haiti conceded victory [1-0] on a penalty from Georgia Stanway in the first period at 29' of play.
A match less obvious than expected for the European champions who were very aggressive during the first 15 minutes. At the end of the very hectic first period, 9 minutes of extra time were announced.
A first period where the ball was 70% owned by the Lionesses with 8 shots including 5 on target for England and 269 successful passes against 85 for the Grenadières.
At halftime the score remained unchanged [1-0] in favor of England.
Returning from the locker room at 50, Melchie Daelle Dumornay offers a great opportunity for Haiti with a shot from the right on target, but pushed back by Goalkeeper Mary Earps.
The "Lionesses" having taken the measure of their opponents, no longer play with the same offensive will and remain cautious knowing that they are not immune to a bad surprise from the Grenadières who for their part, while forming a unit and solidarity, lack offensive fluidity and still cannot restart after recovering the ball.
Nerilia Mondesir is hit in the ankle at 57' victim of a tackle from behind by Lauren Hemp but will return to the lawn at 60'.
The "Lionesses" put pressure and remain installed in the opposing half of the field...
15 minutes from the end of regulation time, the final score of this meeting remains undecided despite English domination.
At 78' Nicolas Delépine brings out Roselord Borgella and brings in Roseline Eloissaint. Roseline who 4 minutes after entering, served by Nerilla, shoots but the English goalkeeper deflects the ball with her left foot.
Although many opportunities arise, on one side or the other, the score does not change and everything is possible in this meeting at 84' of play.
At 90' Dumornay shoots a cormer on the left but the English goalkeeper pushes the ball away.
4 minutes of additional time are announced.
Delépine brings Batcheba out at 90'+3 and enters Pierre Jérôme but it is too late, the final score remains unchanged [1-0] in favor of England.
But a defeat where our Grenadières do not have to be ashamed, on the contrary they can be proud of having valiantly resisted against a European champion team (sometimes violent) and physically superior. This first match, lost at least, will certainly allow our Grenadières to be better prepared for the next match where they will face the Republic of China on July 28, 2023 at Hindmarsh Stadium (Adelaide, Australia) Friday July 28 at 8:30 p.m. local time, 7:00 a.m. in Haiti.
